1. How much does a reflexologist make?
Earnings vary by location. In Thurston County, a new reflexologist can typically charge $65 to $75 per hour. The further north you go, the higher the rates. Experienced reflexologists with three or more years in Olympia usually charge around $85 an hour.
2. Is a reflexology session always an hour?
No, sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Offering shorter sessions can make reflexology more affordable for your clients and encourage them to come more frequently.
3. Where does a reflexologist work?
Spas, Chiropractic offices, Wellness centers, Naturopathic doctors’ offices, Massage clinics, Senior centers. You can also start your own practice and be self-employed. Our program covers marketing strategies to help you build and promote your business.
4. How many appointments can I expect to have?
It depends on your location, advertising efforts, or how much marketing you do if you're self-employed. Teri Hoskins, our Education Director, maintained 20 to 24 sessions a week in her 30-year
career. Reflexology is growing, and it’s becoming a regular part of people’s wellness routines.
5. How much does it cost to start my own business? What equipment will I need?
Zero-gravity chair: $50 - $100
Used massage table: $100 - $250 (new ones cost around $500)
Stool with wheels: $50 - $100
Towels, lotions, pillow, bolster, hand sanitizer, and other supplies: $100
Business cards: $30
Workspace (rent varies depending on location), or you can offer mobile reflexology.
6. How do I get started?
Contact STR to schedule a personal career planning meeting (15–30 minutes in person or over the phone). Fill out the application and complete the enrollment form.
7. Does tuition include textbooks and supplies?
Yes, tuition covers all the essentials you need, including your ToolKit: Three textbooks, Workbooks, Colored pencils, Notebook and folder for notes and handouts, Writing utensils, Practicum package: lotion, shea butter, wipes, and hand sanitizer.
